As one of the five largest hotels in Manhattan, the property holds an impressive history and offers an excellent Midtown location directly opposite Madison Square Garden and Amtrak's Penn Station.

The hotel was built in 1919 by the Pennsylvania Railroad and designed by the renowned firm of McKim, Mead and White, which also completed other landmark hotels in New York City.

The hotel's location on 7th Avenue at 33rd Street is also within walking distance of the business, entertainment and fashion districts, including Macy's, the Empire State Building, Times Square and the Jacob Javits Center. In fact, New York's Hotel Pennsylvania is central to many attractions and events.

The location is very good and you can get easily everywhere. The room was nice and clean with supersize bed. Pluses for the fridge and air condition in the room. Totally value for your money.

Convenient, centre of everything.

The staff manner. The tune was not so polite, agrued on the condition on
my booking. I travelled with 2 teens who are 14 and 15, the reservation
confirmed that no charge on additional bed and she insisted that it must
be charged even I shown her the e-mail. As I insisted no charge, she
checked with the "manager" and finally no charge. The hotel needs to
have a better communication between depts.

the hotel location (the only reason if I will ever go to stay there again)

the cleanliness. the room was very dirty. when we checked in, there was urine on the toilet bowl an the floor. there was also nail on the carpet (floor) from previous guest. the room was also smelly and the hot-cold water was not working well.

The location of it as it was right beside main transport station

Yes,the cost of phonecalls from hotel room ,69 minutes to phone home cost me $427.04,which works out at $6.18 per minute which to me is a disgrace,and needless to say on only discovering this on checkout was not happy in the least ,and when questioned it ,was just told "yes,it is expensive to use phone from room".I was not made aware of cost per minute on my arrival,and it was the only sour taste

It is a very bad hotel. Facilities in the room are run down, dirty windows, dirty walls, bathroom rusty and neglected, air conditioner half functioning, one window in the room open all the times and could not be closed, very noisy, long queues for booking in and out, very expensive for the type of services offered, final price is almost 20% more then stated on booking and many other deficiencies.

The only thing I liked was the location was central to everything and the hotel lobby made you think it was a nice place to stay.

Meanwhile...the upstairs looked like the hall way in the Shining! Hence my new nickname for the hotel. And when we checked in and put down our bags I went to use the restroom and there was piss all over the seat. Yet when we walked in it smelled like someone had just cleaned the room. When we called to have it cleaned and left the room only to return at 2am in the morning and not cleaned.
